There are some great SEO tools out there as other threads discuss and of course you pay for what you get. But what are the best free SEO tools out there?

Here are two that I can think of;

Google's Keyword Tool : Not bad for helping deciding on key words and checking how difficult they are  as well as how often they are used.

SEO Site Check Up : Onsite SEO checker. Good for checking a wide range of onsite details. Think there is a limit on how many times you can use it in a day.

Any you use or is it paid products all the way?

Good one never knew they had a free option, it certainly doesn't stand out on their package page.

Both link-checking programs. Ahrefs better for more up-to-date, OSE is better for comparing websites in easy-to-digest numbers

Anyone know a good one for checking the difficulty of keyword strings? I've seen a lot of companies using google's keyword tool for this.

Don't ever use that. It's pointless as it doesn't look at the strength of a website.

Use seomoz keyword difficulty tool

I noticed that a lot of other SEO tools are pulling their Google SERP and keyword data from SEMRush these days.

It looks like quite a nice bit of kit:

The best free SEO tool is similarweb: https://www.similarweb.com/. But it is better to contact a company that knows about seo so they can advise you.
