I am looking for some good books that will be appropriate for beginners that has pretty good explanations, cover the basics, get into more detail and perhaps have some exercises. What will you suggest?

The trouble with books, especially when trying to learn frontend dev, is the industry moves faster than the ink-on-paper publishing cycle, which means by the time a book hits the shelves it's likely to contain information that's completely out of date. Better to stick to online resources which are much easier for the author to keep up to date.

Okay, then can you suggest a journal or site that is well updated and is up to date?

MDN for reference, Treehouse or Udemy for lessons.
